Local farmer and historian Ron Rigby led a very informative two mile walk from Bells Lane bridge to Billy's Bridge, stopping every so often to talk about Lydiate and the Leeds- Liverpool Canal .This was part of the Heritage Week events .

" Coal  and Cotton " rally June 2007

Narrowboats gathered at Lydiate on the evening of Tuesday 5th June on their way to Liverpool.

Three weeks ago they set off from near Manchester,

and were guided from Liverpool North Docks,

down the Mersey and into the Canning Dock

for the "Coal and Cotton " rally and the World Canal Conference.
